Energetic Protection Ritual: How to Protect Your Energy and Return to Yourself

Energetic Protection Ritual: How to Protect Your Energy and Return to Yourself

There are times when I leave a conversation, a crowded space, or an emotionally intense experience and realize I do not feel entirely like myself.

I may feel heavier than I did before, find myself replaying someone else’s problems, or notice that I am carrying emotions that do not seem to belong to me. This can happen to anyone, but it is especially common for tarot readers, energy workers, healers, caregivers, empaths, and people who regularly hold space for others.

Energetic protection is how I remind myself where another person’s experience ends and my own begins.

You do not need a particular product, crystal, or elaborate altar to perform an energetic protection ritual. Your intention is the most important part. I love incorporating crystals and bath and body products because they make that intention feel physical. The water, fragrance, stones, and act of touching my own body help me become more present and connected to the ritual.

Use whatever feels meaningful to you. The purpose is not to perform every step perfectly. It is to create a moment where you can release what is not yours and return to yourself.

Begin by Noticing What You Are Carrying

Before I try to clear anything, I take a moment to notice what has changed.

How did I feel before the interaction, and how do I feel now? Am I physically tense? Am I replaying a conversation? Did an emotion appear suddenly? Does the heaviness I am carrying actually belong to me?

You do not need to know exactly where every feeling came from. Sometimes it is enough to recognize:

This does not feel like mine, and I do not want to continue carrying it.

Place both feet on the floor and take three slow breaths. Bring your attention back into your body and name what you are ready to release.

Create a Boundary Around Your Energy

Once I have acknowledged what I am feeling, I imagine a protective layer forming around my body.

Sometimes I picture golden light. Other times, I imagine a reflective shield that allows love and compassion to move through while sending unwanted energy away from me. Your boundary can look however you want it to look. What matters is the intention behind it.

I repeat:

I can care without carrying. I can witness without absorbing. My energy remains protected and my own.

When I want to make this part of the ritual feel more tangible, I wash with one of our protection soaps.

I reach for Evil Eye Soap when I want general everyday protection, and Spiritual Shield Soap  when I feel like my energetic boundaries need extra attention.

Fortune Teller Soap was created specifically for tarot readers, intuitives, and energy workers. It is the soap I would use before opening a reading or after holding space for someone else. Washing before the session helps establish the boundary; washing afterward marks the moment when that person’s energy is no longer mine to hold.

The soap does not create the boundary for me. It gives me a physical action to connect with the boundary I am choosing to create.

Let the Water Carry It Away

Water has always been one of my favorite tools for energetic cleansing. Honestly, that feeling of washing away what I no longer want to carry is one of the reasons I created Crystal Bar Soap.

There is something powerful about stepping into the water and deciding that the energy clinging to you does not have to leave with you. I love washing my body slowly and imagining the heaviness being pulled away from my skin—the emotions I absorbed, the conversations I keep replaying, and everything that never belonged to me in the first place.

As the water runs over me, I picture all of that energy moving down my body and disappearing into the drain. I do not need to understand it, hold onto it, or send it away with anger. I can simply let the water take it.

You can experience this in a long bath or shower, but it can also happen while washing your hands. What matters is the moment when an ordinary act of cleansing becomes intentional.

As I rinse, I repeat:

I release what is not mine to carry. What belongs to others leaves me now. I return to my own energy.

This is where our products become especially meaningful to me. I created them to give physical form to intentions that can otherwise feel invisible. The lather of a soap, the transformation of a bath bomb, the feeling of salt dissolving into the water, and the crystals revealed along the way all help me connect more deeply with the release.

When I want to create a longer protection ritual, I like using our Eye of Protection Bath Bomb. Watching it dissolve gives me time to slow down and imagine a protective energy surrounding me while everything I do not want to carry is washed away.

When something feels more persistent—an attachment, repeating pattern, or experience that still seems to have a hold on me—I reach for Curse Breaker Bath Salt. As the salt dissolves, I imagine that connection breaking down with it. I name what I am releasing and give myself permission to stop allowing it to follow me forward.

The product is not what gives the ritual its power. That begins with your intention. But for me, bathing with these ingredients, scents, and crystals makes the ritual feel tangible. I can feel the moment of release against my skin, watch it move into the water, and see it disappear down the drain.

It is a reminder that I do not have to carry everything forever.

Clear the Physical Space Around You

After releasing the energy from my body, I like to change something in the physical space.

I may open a window, wipe down the surface where I was working, put away my tarot cards, change my clothes, or step outside for a few minutes. If I have been reading for someone, putting my deck back in its box signals that the session is finished.

You can also shake out your hands and shoulders, play a song that makes you feel like yourself, or write down what you are releasing and tear up the paper.

As you clear the space, say:

This experience is complete. I leave behind what is not meant to follow me.

This action does not need to be elaborate. It simply tells your mind and body that the moment has ended.

Return to Your Own Energy

Releasing is only one half of the ritual. The next part is returning to yourself.

I place one hand over my heart and one over my stomach. I take a few slow breaths and think about what belongs to me: my body, my relationships, my needs, my responsibilities, and the life waiting for me outside this experience.

Then I ask:

What would help me feel like myself again?

The answer may be spiritual, but it may also be very ordinary. Sometimes I need rest, food, water, music, movement, or a few minutes without talking to anyone.

This is also where I like to use a body oil. Applying oil requires me to slow down and reconnect with my physical body. The combination of scent, touch, herbs, and crystals helps deepen my connection to the intention behind the ritual.

If I feel energetically clouded or overstimulated, I use Aura Cleanse Body Oil as a way of welcoming clarity back into my space.

If the ritual is connected to jealousy, projection, or unwanted attention, I reach for Karmic Return Body Oil. As I massage it into my skin, I imagine it creating a protective shield around my body. I release anything that was directed toward me and allow it to return to its source without anger or harm.

I repeat:

I do not hold what was never mine. All energy returns to its rightful place, and I remain protected.

Again, you do not need an oil to create protection. I use it because the physical act of applying it helps me feel the boundary I am establishing around myself.

Seal the Ritual

After a deeper release—especially after working with Curse Breaker—I do not like to end the ritual by continuing to focus on what I removed.

I want the final part to be about what I am restoring.

This is why I pair Curse Breaker Bath Salt with The Cure Maker Body Oil. Curse Breaker represents breaking the unwanted connection. The Cure Maker represents sealing the ritual, restoring my energy, and deciding what will take the place of everything I released.

As I apply the oil, I imagine it locking the ritual into place and forming a final protective layer over my skin.

I repeat:

What has been released cannot return. I seal this ritual in protection, strength, and peace. My energy belongs to me.

You can also seal the ritual without a product. Place your hands over your heart, take a final breath, and speak your intention aloud. The important part is bringing the ritual to a clear ending.

Choose What Feels Right for You

You do not need to use all of these products together. Most of the time, I choose what I need based on how I am feeling.

For everyday protection, I may simply wash with Evil Eye or Spiritual Shield.

When I am holding space for someone else, I would use Fortune Teller before and after the interaction.

When I want a full-body protection ritual, I reach for Eye of Protection.

When I feel energetically heavy, I use Aura Cleanse.

When I feel affected by jealousy or projection, I choose Karmic Return.

When I need a more intentional break from something that has been lingering, I use Curse Breaker and follow it with The Cure Maker to close and seal the ritual.

These products are not requirements. They are tools I created to make invisible intentions feel more physical. Fragrance can signal that you are entering a sacred moment. Water can make release feel tangible. A crystal can hold the meaning you want to return to. Applying oil can help you reconnect with your body and imagine your protection settling into place.

Use what you already have. Choose the parts that speak to you. Add a ritual product when you want to make the experience deeper, more sensory, or more intentional.

The tools may support the ritual, but the intention has always belonged to you.

I release what is not mine. I protect what is. I return to myself.
